Our Algarve surf and yoga retreats are for beginners and holidaymakers looking for an easy and affordable way to get a taste of surfing in the sun. This is not for hardcore surfers. It’s for curious souls who want to try surfing and enjoy their time off in a chilled-out, non-competitive environment.

If I were selfish, I’d keep this to myself, but I feel generous today :). I’ve traveled quite a bit, and this is by far the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at.
The amenities are outstanding: an outdoor gym, swimming pool, hot tub, cozy sofas, just to name a few. The dorm rooms offer privacy with curtains around each bed. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic, and if you’re lucky, you might even get pancakes 😉 ! Renting a car is definitely recommended, but Uber are also very affordable. The location is perfect to explore the Algarve, try SUP, surf, kayaking to see the caves by the sea. I personally came here to kite surf - the spot is just a 30-minute drive away - and will absolutely be back as soon as I can!

I can’t tell you how incredible this property is. The beds are comfortable. Everyone on site (guest and staff) were lovely. The properties amenities— lounge chairs, pool, hot tub are wonderful during the summer days. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, perfect avocados, and either pancakes or waffles. This hostel is only 10-15 mins from Lagos. It’s a short 20 min walk into Luz. I was able to Uber/Bolt everywhere for ~5-10€. Lily ran a load of laundry for me since I was a week into my month long trip. I booked 3 excursions and went on 2. I did the 7 hanging valley hike self-led with the All Trails app. Dogs beach wine with Chris (do it for the dogs and the lunch of the beach)! Last excursion was the golden coast cruise (all of these are listed on the adventure page of Vida Boa’s website). I wish I would’ve stayed longer, this place is a hidden gem.

Manuela Izaacs / Yoga and kinstretch practitioner
Manuela is a passionate yoga teacher with over a decade of experience. Originally from Namibia, she spent 18 years in the Cayman Islands before settling in Lagos. Her dynamic and enriching classes blend anatomy, philosophy, meditation, breathwork and Ayurveda. She’s excited to share her practice and connect with Vida Boa guests!

We have multiple retreats throughout the year, so you can choose a date that suits you best.

Fill out our booking form at the bottom of the page with your personal information and any preferences or special requests.
3. Secure your spot
Once we’ve confirmed your booking form, you will receive payment instructions to secure your spot. Spaces are limited, so make sure to book early!
After that, all you need to do is show up – we take care of the rest!

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON THIS RETREAT?
We have plenty of rooms and space for up to 16 people.
HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO I NEED FOR THIS RETREAT?
Our Algarve surf and yoga retreat is perfect for beginners and green wave riders, so no experience is necessary! Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way.
DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN SURFING EQUIPMENT
No, we provide all the necessary equipment for surfing and yoga.
I'M SCARED OF BIG WAVES! WHERE DO YOU TAKE US SURFING?
Don’t worry, we only take you to surf spots that are suitable for beginners, intermediates and green wave riders where the waves aren’t too big. You can always opt out of surfing if you’re not comfortable, and we’ll offer alternative activities.
DO I NEED TO BE SUPER FIT FOR THIS RETREAT?
Nope! While having a certain level of fitness will definitely help with surfing and yoga, this retreat is suitable for all levels. Our instructors will adapt to your abilities and provide modifications if needed.
WHAT'S THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT?
The Algarve has plenty of sunshine throughout the year, but the best time for surfing is from April to November when the waves are more consistent.
CAN I REALLY LEARN TO SURF IN JUST ONE WEEK?
Yes! In fact, most first-time surfers can stand up and ride a wave within their first lesson. With daily lessons and guidance from our experienced instructors, you’ll see significant progress throughout the week.

By booking your stay or any other services with Vida Boa Lodge, you agree to all our terms and conditions. In this document, “you,” “client,” “customer,” and “guest” refer to the person making the booking, while “we,” “us,” “our,” and “Vida Boa Lodge” refer to Vida Boa Lodge.
Booking Responsibility
The client is responsible for reviewing all booking and confirmation details carefully. Any errors or discrepancies must be reported to Vida Boa Lodge immediately.
If a group booking is made by one person (the lead guest), they confirm that they have the authority to book on behalf of the group. The lead guest must ensure all group members are aware of and accept these terms and conditions.

Booking & Payment
- Guests may request bookings for groups, promotions, camps, retreats, or special weeks via our booking system, email, or WhatsApp.
- To confirm a camp/retreat booking, a 20% deposit of the total amount is required.
June Retreat Payment Plan:
- 20% deposit within 5 days of booking to confirm the reservation.
- Remaining 80% payment due by May 2nd.
September Retreat Payment Plan:
- 20% deposit within 5 days of booking to confirm the reservation.
- 30% payment due by May 2nd.
- Remaining 50% payment due by August 1st.
Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in cancellation, and the booking may be sold to another client.

We do not currently accept card payments for bookings or at Vida Boa Lodge.
cancellation policy
- Up to 6 weeks before arrival: 20% deposit is non-refundable.
- Within 6 weeks of arrival: 100% of the payment is non-refundable.
- Force Majeure: If accommodation becomes uninhabitable due to uncontrollable circumstances (e.g., natural disasters, epidemics), refunds will only apply to accommodation costs.

- Vida Boa Lodge reserves the right to adjust prices at any time before booking confirmation.
- All prices are quoted in Euros and may be subject to change.

- Discounts cannot be applied retroactively after a booking is confirmed.
Deposits: - Dorm lockers: €20 returnable cash deposit is required for padlock use (guests may also bring their own).
- Beach towels: €5 rental fee per towel + €15 returnable cash deposit.
